The Dream Week in Phuket, Thailand
With a week in Phuket, you’ll have plenty of time to explore the island, visit nearby islands, spend some time relaxing on the beach, or indulge in a spa treatment! You even get to fit all of this into just two days – how amazing is that!
We offer suggested plans for each day which you can sort through and customize. Different people expect different things from their vacations; some might need time to destress following work, while others prefer to explore as much as possible then relax before leaving. If you like it all, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t make each day memorable with a new experience. We left evening activities out of this itinerary because these usually depend on the proximity of your hotel from the beach, and how worn out you are by then.
An effective way to plan a weeklong trip in Phuket is to combine the following activities:
- Spending two or three days discovering the island is a great idea.
- Spend two days exploring an island nearby.
- One day trip to Phang Nga Bay.
- Take a day trip to an island you’ve never explored before.
- One day to explore lesser-known locations.
- Spend a day exploring the beaches of Phuket.
Day 1 – South Phuket Area
Today’s itinerary might include The Big Buddha, Wat Chalong, Karon Viewpoint, Promthep Cape, Windmill Viewpoint and Phuket Town.
The Southern part of the island boasts remarkable landmarks and scenic shorelines. Driving along the Westside and stopping to marvel at the Karon Viewpoint, Three Bays of Kata Noi, Kata, and Karon Beach is a great way to explore. Moving further South down towards Nai Harn Beach and Ya Nui Beach, you’ll eventually reach Promthep Cape followed by Rawai – perfect for a delicious seafood lunch right by the water. You’ll be able to select from a variety of restaurants in Southern Phuket; while exceptionally crowded during peak season, the Rawai Seafood Market is quite popular. Alternately, if you are seeking an enjoyable yet more elaborate meal then we would recommend Aek Seafood located in quaint local roadside eateries next to the ocean or perhaps a visit to Rock Salt at the Nai Harn Resort which offers an elegant lunch experience.
After lunch, take a ride north and visit the Big Buddha monument to appreciate the stunning view, followed by Wat Chalong, the most important Thai temple
Exploring the south of Phuket is a great way to experience the beauty and culture of Thailand. One of the best ways to do this is to hire a knowledgeable van with a driver. This is an affordable and stress-free way to explore the area, as you don’t have to worry about navigating unfamiliar roads or finding parking spots. The driver will take you to all the
A typical day visiting the largest salt mine in the United States would begin with a 9am pickup at the hotel. From there, visitors would be taken to Karon Beach, where they could take in the stunning views of the Andaman Sea and enjoy some sunbathing or swimming. Next, they would visit Kata viewpoint for more breathtaking views of Phuket Island.
Phang Nga Bay Area
The first stop is usually James Bond Island, a famous landmark made popular by the movie The Man with the Golden Gun. It’s a small limestone island with a unique shape that looks like a gun barrel. You can take some amazing pictures here and explore the area around it.
After kayaking, you can enjoy a delicious lunch at one of the many restaurants in the area. After lunch, take a boat ride to visit James Bond Island and Koh Panyee, two iconic spots in Phang Nga Bay. The boat will also take you to some of the most beautiful beaches in Thailand, such as Naka Yai Island and Koh Yao Noi. You can spend some time swimming or just relaxing on the beach before heading back to your hotel. A day trip to Phang Nga Bay is an unforgettable experience that will stay with you for a lifetime!
If you are looking for a more active day, you can rent a kayak and explore the many caves around Phang Nga Bay. The most famous one is the Tham Lod cave, which is filled with bats and swallows. You can also visit Koh Hong Island, where you will find an amazing lagoon surrounded by limestone cliffs.
For those who love nature and wildlife, there are several national parks in Phuket to explore. Khao Phra Thaeo National Park is home to some of the most beautiful waterfalls on the island. It’s also a great place for bird watching as it hosts over 200 species of birds.
Finally, if you want to experience something truly unique, take a boat trip to Racha Yai Island and go snorkelling or diving around its coral reefs. You will be able to spot sea turtles, clownfish and other colourful marine life!
A van tour with a local driver can be a great way to experience James Bond Island, Koh Panyi, Wat Suwan Kuha with its giant reclining Buddha in a cave, and waterfall stops. The day will end by admiring the stunning Samet Nangshee viewpoint.
Try Spending a night on an Island
Spending a week in Phuket is the perfect way to experience all that this beautiful part of Thailand has to offer. With its stunning beaches, lush jungles and vibrant nightlife, Phuket is an ideal destination for a dream holiday.
Phi Phi Island
Spending an evening in Phi Phi island is an excellent way to experience all the benefits of this special collection of islands. Although, having a day-trip is possible, you’ll soon understand how little time you have to explore! There are hotels available for all financial plans. Usually, the centre is active with many stores, bars, and eateries however now it’s silent because of covid-19. When life has fully regained its normal pace and you would rather avoid the loud roads and young throngs of people, contemplate staying on another beach further north.
Spend a night in Phi Phi to gain access to Maya Bay, Pileh Bay, Bamboo Island, and more. Don’t forget to take in the beautiful sunset from Phi Phi Viewpoint.
Racha Island
The island has a few restaurants, but you can also have dinner at the hotel. The Racha is a great place to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. You can take a boat trip around the island and explore its hidden coves and beaches. There are plenty of activities to do, such as kayaking, snorkelling, scuba diving, fishing and more. Spend your days exploring the island’s stunning scenery and relaxing in its tranquil atmosphere. At night, you can enjoy a romantic dinner under the stars or watch the sunset from one of the many viewpoints on the island. A dream week in Phuket wouldn’t be complete without spending some time on Racha Island!
Coral Island
Spend your days exploring the island’s stunning scenery and relaxing in its tranquil atmosphere. At night, you can enjoy a romantic dinner under the stars or watch the sunset from one of the many viewpoints on the island. A dream week in Phuket wouldn’t be complete without spending some time on Coral Island!
North Phuket
The atmosphere in North Phuket is much more tranquil than the south and has fewer noteworthy features. Not only will you find calmer beaches here, but you can also start your day with a memorable breakfast on Kamala Beach. Visitors can tour around Layan, Bangtao, Nai Yang, and Naithon Beaches anytime during the day. Plus, you won’t want to miss out on the exciting chance to take a selfie with the large airplanes!
A dream week in Phuket would be incomplete without a visit to the stunning Haad Sai Kaew beach. Located in the northern part of the island, this secluded beach is perfect for those looking for a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The white sand and crystal clear waters make it an ideal spot for swimming, sunbathing, or simply taking in
Similan Islands
Going to the Similan Islands is a full day trip, but it is worth every minute. Located off the coast of Phuket, Thailand, this archipelago of nine islands is a stunningly beautiful paradise. The shallow waters on white sand beaches create an incredibly blue colour that will take your breath away.
Snorkelling in these crystal clear waters is an experience like no other!
Secret Phuket
Don’t miss out on the less well-known places on the island, take the time to explore them too. Accessing some of the most pristine beaches requires effort, but such effort is worth it for being rewarded with an untouched paradise. Surprisingly, some secluded beaches like Freedom Beach are located near more popular beaches. Although getting there can be a challenge due to the effort required, it is well worth it. For a peaceful retreat, travel north of Phuket for the beaches of Layan, Banana, Naithon, Nai Yang and Sai Kaew.
In the peaceful countryside, you’ll find hidden temples and stunning views. There may be fewer sights to visit, but we love the more relaxed atmosphere of these spots – they’re perfect for travelers who want an authentic Phuket experience without the crowds. Visiting waterfalls can be a great way to spend time during the rainy season. Thai locals often take time on the weekend to come here, even though it isn’t particularly remarkable, and play in the water.
