Kata Beach by Areas

Kata Beachfront

The beach front is a short scenic drive down the coast, on one side and completely occupied by Club Med on another. The road is relatively small and offers very little parking, apart from Club Med, the main landmark is Surf House Kata, beyond Resort Kata, and several beach restaurants at each end of the road. During high season, there is usually a small night market with music and entertainment.

Kata Centre

Kata Centre is the oldest part of town, and has grown around a bustling intersection. Not much has changed around there, if you exclude Starbucks and the At Peach restaurant. Night life is very active, and there are many beer bars but no GoGo bars. If you drive after dark, you won’t miss all the small bars all loudly playing various music, the ones at Kata centre intersection being among the brightest and most welcoming places to stop.

Kampong Kata Hill is a restaurant located at the top of the hill behind Starbucks. It offers great views of the city and the bay. If you’re looking for something different, this is the place to go.

Is Kata Beach safe?

Kata beach is a very safe place for tourists to spend their holidays. Even late at night you will never feel worried walking the streets that are crowded until 2am and even later sometimes. You can also party late, but you must avoid driving your motorcycle after drinking because it is dangerous. Tuk-tuks are available to take you back if you need them.

The only true danger is the weather. The sea can be dangerous at times, especially if there is a storm. Swimming should be avoided when the flag is red. During the low season, book a hotel with a nice pool.

How to get to Kata Beach?

You can easily get to Kata Beach by public transport, taxis, or self-driving cars.
