Bangtao Beach is one of the longest stretches of white sand in Phuket, located between Patong Beach and Phuket International Airport. It’s a great place to relax and enjoy the view of the Andaman Sea. Laguna Phuket was once a tin mine that made the fortune of the island. It was abandoned later, and the land became worthless. Laguna Phu Khao Nok Development Company Ltd. (LPK) bought the land and turned it into an eco-resort. The first years, LPK started as a luxury complex, but it was too isolated. Guests of the hotels had little choice outside the hotel restaurants and facilities, and prices were always on the higher side.
Laguna has always been the high end part of Phuket. You can see the difference between the tourist and resident markets with the shops, villas and even cars around the areas.
Bang Tao Beach is still a great place to visit, especially if you like to relax on the beach. There are many choices of restaurants, bars, and shops. You can also enjoy the nightlife at the beach clubs. However, it is not as cheap as before.
What to Do in Bang Tao Beach
Guests can enjoy tons of activities offered by the hotels. If you stay at one of the resorts, your room key will allow you to use all the facilities of any other resort in the group. Beach clubs are back in Phang Nga, and Bangtao offers no less than four of those clubs. These clubs are also a great place to spend the day and have fun at night.
The beach in Phuket is one of the best beaches in Thailand. It is narrow and the sand is a bit less powdery than in other places like Patong or Kata. The water is not as shallow but it is still very nice and rarely crowded. You can enjoy the rare luxury of eating at local restaurants or enjoying drinks at small bamboo bars just right on the beach.
